C-Suite Execs Say Org. Structures Hindering Digital’s Potential

Chief among these challenges are organizational structures, which 52% of the executives believe are not designed to take advantage of their digital business priorities, and a lack of technology infrastructure and IT systems, cited by 51%. Potential Seen For Publishers to Increase Video Ad Loads

Optimizing ad load (the number of ads per play) is one way to go about this, but publishers may not be finding the right balance as of yet. Breaking down data from the nearly 200 million unique viewers who watched an Ooyala-powered video each month in Q1, Ooyala finds that the average video ad load is about 1 per play, regardless of video length. Further analysis reveals that the typical viewer sees an average of only 1 video ad per 24 hours on a given domain or application, suggesting that there is untapped opportunity available to publishers to increase their ad loads. Direct & Digital Marketing Spend, Revenue Grew Modestly in Q1

Spending growth has slowed over the past quarter, though: the weighted average of spending growth between Q4 2011 and Q1 2012 was noticeably lower than the weighted average of spending growth between Q3 and Q4 2011 (3.2 vs. 3.5, respectively on a 5-point scale, with 1 representing a significant decrease and 5 representing a significant increase). UK Paid Search Market Set to Grow 14% This Year

The company estimates the market will attain a value of roughly 4.2 billion this year, representing close to a 14% rise from nearly 3.7 billion in 2011. The 14% year-over-year growth forecast is slightly less than growth rates in previous years (15% in 2011, 18% in 2010), but is still strong given challenging economic times. Read more »

CEOs See a Bright Future for Social Media in Customer Engagement

Although only 16% currently engage customers through social media, 57% anticipate doing so in the few years, a proportion that places the channel behind only face-to-face methods of interaction (67%), and ahead of websites (55%) and call centers (31%).
