Consumers Say They Want More Relevant Website Experiences

New survey results from Janrain suggest that within the US, being shown irrelevant content can drive consumers away: 74% of respondents claim to get frustrated with websites when content, offers, ads, and promotions appear that have nothing to do with their interests. 1 in 7 Opt-In Emails Sent to US Subscribers Didn’t Reach Their Inboxes in H1

The 86% inbox placement rate represented a 1% year-over-year improvement, and actually marked a higher rate than any other country tracked save for Australia (96%) and Canada (90%). Consumers Claim Spending Cuts, But Market Tallies Suggest Otherwise

Mintel-Consumer-Spending-Perceptions-v-Actual-Behavior-July2013Americans increasingly believe they're cutting back on small-ticket purchases in order to save money, found Harris Interactive in a recent survey, and new data from Mintel suggests that of 13 major consumer markets in the US, there are only 2 where a greater proportion of consumers believe they're spending more today than less. An accompanying audit from Mintel indicates, though, that consumer beliefs aren't matching up with their actual behavior: spending has risen in each of those same markets, per the researchers. CPG Marketers Distributed 168 Billion Coupons in H1, A Slight Rise From Last Year

The study finds that marketers distributed 168 billion coupons, the highest number since the first half of 2010 (178 billion). Free-standing inserts (FSIs) remained the predominant media type, at 91.1% of all distributed coupons. Read more »

Top Retail Website Load Speeds Continue to Slow Down

Some Consumers Regret Their Actions on Social Media
