Among the most contempt-eliciting words spawned by the web are the most familiar – blog, cookie, social network – according to a YouGov poll for Lulu.com, reports E-consultancy.

A less familiar one, but the one most likely to make one “wince, shudder or want to bang your head on the keyboard” is “folksonomy,” which refers to a web classification system.

The top 10 most annoying web words:
