Holiday E-Commerce Spending Reaches $14 Billion, Up 17% Vs. Last Year

More than $14 billion has been spent online during the season-to-date - a 17% gain compared with the corresponding days last year - according to comScore’s update of holiday season e-commerce spending covering the first 32 days (Nov. 1 - Dec. 2) of the 2007 holiday season.

The heaviest online spending day of the season thus far was Cyber Monday (Nov. 26) with $733 million in sales.

“Cyber Monday…was followed by three consecutive days where spending surpassed $700 million,” said comScore Chairman Gian Fulgoni. “However, strong sales subsided towards the end of the week, eventually resulting in a 17% gain versus the corresponding time period last year - in line with the growth rates we’ve experienced for the season to date.”

Videogames & Consoles Still Surging

The hottest online retail category is, still, videogames, consoles & accessories, rising 145% in November versus the corresponding days last year; furniture, appliances & equipment (up 45%) and sport & fitness (up 30%) are also performing well.
