TV Ad Spend Rose 4.5% in ‘11; Cable on Par With Network TV

Spot TV claimed the largest share of spend, at 32%, while cable TV grew 5.4% year-over-year and network TV declined 0.5% to move them into a virtual spending tie ($21 billion and $21.1 billion, respectively). Mobile Finance Users Skew Young, Value Brand Equity

While 25-34-year-olds make up only 17% of the mobile audience, they account for 32% of mobile finance users. Similarly, 18-24-year-olds, who make up 13% of the mobile audience, represent 21% share of those using mobile finance. Crowdfunding Platforms Raised Almost $1.5B in ‘11, Up 72% Y-O-Y

OOH Advertising Reach Said Outpacing Other Media

The study tabbed the reach of billboards highest among outdoor formats, at 83% of adults aged 18-64, with alternative (42%), street furniture (28%), and transit (11%) following. Comparing these formats to the reach of other media, the report suggests that coupling billboards with mobile advertising can increase mobile’s reach by more than 300%, while billboards and the internet together can more than double the internet’s reach in the afternoon. Mobile CTRs Peak in Summer Months for Travel Advertisers

Looking at traffic and click-through rate (CTR) patterns for the travel channel in 2011, the study finds that while travel channel traffic peaked in August, CTRs were highest in June (3.55%), with September (3.37%), April (3.29%), and May (3.07%) also demonstrating strong engagement. Overall, travel, games, and entertainment were the highest performing application and mobile web channels for travel advertisers. Asians, Men, Watch Most Internet Video

With a monthly average of 8 hours and 43 minutes, they easily consumed more internet video than African Americans, at 6 hours and 19 minutes, and Hispanics, at 6 hours and 10 minutes. Caucasian internet video viewers spent the least amount of time, at just under 4 hours.
