Average American Visits 115 Domains/Month

The average online American went online 62 times, visited 115 domains, viewed 2,580 web pages and spent nearly 75 hours online in January 2009, according to (pdf) data from Nielsen Online, which released basic statistics about monthly internet use.

Top 10 Parent Companies/Divisions

Nielsen also reported January 2009 data for the top parent companies/divisions and top
web brands, which shows that Google, Microsoft and Yahoo remain atop both lists in terms of unique audience. More than140.2 million home and work internet users visited at least one Google-owned site or launched a Google-owned application during the month.

AOL, which has the fourth largest unique audience among parent companies, has the longest amount of time spent per person at its sites or applications, at 3 hours and 52 minutes.

Top 10 Web Brands

Google remains the most popular web brand in January, with a unique audience of 135.6 million. Yahoo, MSN/Windows Live, Microsoft and AOL Media Network round out the top five.
