Top 10 Search Rankings for March 2009

An estimated 6.1 billion searches were conducted in the US at Google Search in March 2009, giving the internet behemoth a 64.2% share of search queries for the month, and representing year-over-year (YoY) growth of 27.6%, according to data from Nielsen Online.

Yahoo Search had the second-highest number of search queries for the month, with 1.5 billion, representing a 15.8% share and 1.7% growth.

Rounding out the top five, MSN Windows had a 10.3% share of search queries, AOL Search had 3.7% and Ask.com Search, which declined 0.7% YoY had a 2.% share.

The total number of searches for the month was 9.5 billion, an increase of 16.7% over March of 2008.

Comcast Search, which accounts for 57.6 million searches and a 0.6% share, experienced the largest YoY growth, at 30.2%. The largest decline was seen by NexTag Search, which saw 22.4 million searches, or 0.2% of search queries in March.
