Tablet owners tend to have higher incomes than smartphone and PC owners, according to [download page] a recent study from Jumptap and comScore. The study reveals that 40% of tablet owners are in the 100k+ income group, compared to 32% of smartphone owners and 31% of PC owners. Another 17% of tablet owners are in the $75-100k income bracket, meaning that almost 6 in 10 have incomes of at least $75,000 per year.
Smartphone and PC owners have a similar income distribution, although PC owners skew slightly more to the low-income side. That is, 41% of PC owners are in the <$60k income group, compared to 33% of smartphone owners.
Interestingly, while smartphone and PC owners are more alike than smartphone and tablet users when it comes to income distribution, that’s not true for age distribution. A plurality 56% of smartphone owners are aged 25-49, with a similar figure (53%) evident for tablet owners. By contrast, 47% of PC owners are in that age group.
The study data indicates that tablet owners are slightly older than smartphone owners: 31% of the former are in the 50+ age range, compared to 25% of the latter. But PC owners skew the oldest, with 38% aged 50 and over.
