    Notes: Smartphone and tablet visit shares are up in each of 6 industries analyzed by Adobe, according to its 3rd annual “Best of the Best (U.S.) Digital Marketing report, although tablet visits began declining in Q4 and are expected to continue in most industries save for media and entertainment, likely due to the growth of phablets. Of the 6 industries, the media and entertainment sector had the largest share of both tablet (26.1%) and smartphone (35.5%) visits for the calendar year. The top quintile in this industry by smartphone visits saw just over half of their traffic come from smartphones.

    Meanwhile, retail sites saw 44.4% of their visits come from smartphones (26.6%) and tablets (17.9%) last year, with smartphones comprising 40.1% of visits for the top quintile. In fact, some top retailers are seeing a majority of their traffic coming from mobile-only visitors, according to comScore data reported by Internet Retailer.

        About the Data: The Adobe data is based on aggregate and anonymous data from 200 billion visits to 10,000+ US websites during the 2014 calendar year.
