Notes: Millennials (18-35) may be watching less traditional TV, but those who watch TV tend to be more excited than other generations about shows in general, according to results from a Harris Poll. In fact, among TV viewers, more than three-quarters of Millennials said that there is at least one new/upcoming show that they’re really excited about (versus the adult average of 62%), and 61% agreed that shows are getting better and better (versus the average of 47%). TV viewers who stream shows also tended to be more excited about upcoming shows and the quality of programming.

Separate results from the survey indicate that comedies and sitcoms are easily Millennials’ favorite type of programming, while Boomers (51-69) and Matures (70+) tend to prefer news and detective/crime shows.

Half of the adults surveyed said they watch TV via streaming, including 18% who reported watching most (12%) or all (6%) of their TV shows via streaming.
