A continuing fascination with weekly contestant eliminations on American Idol and Dancing with the Stars propelled those reality TV shows to the top of the US regularly-scheduled programming list for 2009, while Superbowl-related sports programming got the highest ratings for single telecast programs, according to the yearly “top 10″ lists from The Nielsen Company.
