Notes: Relevant content creation is by far the most effective SEO tactic, according to a new survey of 286 global marketing, sales and business professionals (71% B2B) from Ascend2 and its Research Partners. Indeed, 72% of respondents cited relevant content as an effective SEO tactic, with keyword/phrase research (48%) in a distant second place. However, relevant content creation is one of the most difficult tactics to execute, per respondents, while keyword/phrase research is one of the easiest.
In other survey results:
- Changing search algorithms (40%) and budget constraints (38%) are considered the most challenging obstacles to SEO success;
- More than 7 in 10 respondents feel that their SEO effectiveness is improving either significantly (15%) or modestly (56%); and
- Some 81% believe that either outsourcing to a specialist (17%) or combining in-house resources and outsourcing (64%) represent the most effective resources for executing SEO tactics.

About the Data: The majority (64%) of survey respondents come from companies with fewer than 50 employees, with 22% hailing from companies with 50-500 employees and the remaining 14% from companies with more than 500 employees.
