Samsung Reclaims #2 Position among US Mobile OEMs

millenial-media-top-15-device-manufacturer-feb11-mar11.gifAlthough Apple retained its leading position among US mobile device manufacturers with about a 28% impression share in on the Millennial Media network in February 2010, Samsung grew more than 50% month-over-month to take the number two spot with a roughly 23% share, according to the February 2011 Mobile Mix Report. HTC and RIM Blackberry virtually tied, both following with about 11% impression share.

iPhone, iPod Touch Top Mobile Devices

millenial-media-top30-mobile-feb11-mar11.gifThe Apple iPhone and iPod Touch were the respective number one and number two used devices on the Millennial Media network, followed by the Samsung Epic. Android had 19 of the 30 top 30 mobile devices (manufactured by multiple OEMs), followed by HTC (7), RIM (6), Samsung and Motorola (5 each) Apple (3).

Android Represents Half of Smartphone OS Mix

mobile-mix-smartphone-os-feb-11-mar-2011.JPGHalf (51%) of the smartphone impressions on the Millennial network during February 2011 were from Android devices, followed by iOS (27%) and RIM (17%). iOS commanded an 80% share of all mobile devices running on the network. Sixty-two percent of mobile devices on the network were smartphones, 24% feature phones, and 14% connected devices.

WiFi, Verizon Largest Carriers

All WiFi carriers combined to account for 24% of mobile impressions, followed by Verizon (20%) and Sprint-Nextel (13%). Six in 10 devices on the network used touchscreen input.

Apple, HTC Dominate January Top Mobile Devices

Among the top 10 mobile devices running on the Millennial network during January 2011, Apple provided three (including the top two) and HTC provided four. Samsung provided two and RIM provided one.

Among the top 30 mobile devices, HTC led all manufacturers with eight, followed closely by Samsung with seven. Blackberry provided five, while share leader Apple provided three.
