Exhibition Industry Revenues Up 11.3% in Q2

Trade show revenues in the second quarter of 2007 were up 11.3% compared with the second quarter of 2006, according to information released by the Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR).

 Also according to CEIR:

  • Total trade show revenue reached $2.65 billion in the second quarter. That’s down from the $2.94 billion in first-quarter revenues that CEIR reported.
  • Attendance at exhibitions increased 13.5% compared with 2Q06.
  • Net square footage increased 3.0%.
  • The number of exhibitors increased 4.5%.

Earlier this year, the CEIR Index reported the exhibition industry grew 4.8% in 2006 over 2005 levels – the fourth consecutive year of industry growth, though just slightly below the 5.8% gain posted by the industry in 2005 versus 2004.

Over the period 2000-2006, all four exhibition industry metrics were up, according to the Index: Net Square Feet grew at a 3.6% compound annual growth rate; Revenue (2.6%); Attendees (1.6%); and Exhibitors (1.5%).
