With an embedded base of 4% of all US mobile phone subscribers, Apple’s iPhone was the most popular mobile handset in use from January to October 2009, according to the annual “top 10” list released by The Nielsen Company.

Devices in the RIM Blackberry 8300 series were the second most popular handset types, while Motorola’s RAZR V3 series devices placed third:

Motorola’s RAZR V3 Series was the top US handset during the same period in 2008.? Apple’s iPhone placed at #4 last year.

Google Search, Yahoo Mail and Gmail were the top websites accessed via mobile device for the period of January-September 2009:
