Notes: Social media marketing effectiveness is improving, though ROI proof remains a top challenge, according to a survey of almost 300 marketers and salespeople around the world, the majority of whom sell B2B. Posting to social networks is one of the most effective and easiest tactics used, per the report, which finds that visual content such as videos (69%) and infographics (50%) are considered effective by more marketers than blog posts (35%), articles (31%) and case studies (29%), among other content types.

About the Data: The Ascend2 survey was fielded among 294 marketing, sales and business professionals from around the world, half of whom are from companies with at least 50 employees. Almost two-thirds (66%) sell primarily B2B, while 19% sell primarily B2C and the remaining 15% B2B and B2C equally.
