Average US TV Household Watches 17-18 Channels, Unchanged Since ’08

      Notes: The number of channels watched by the average US TV home has remained between 17 and 18 each year since 2008, despite an ever-growing number of channels received by the average TV home. Last year, the average home received 189 channels, up from 129 in 2008, and the highest number on record. Separately, Nielsen estimates that there are 116.3 million TV homes in the US containing almost 296 million Americans aged 2 and older. Those figures are up 0.4% and 0.5%, respectively, from the 2013-2014 estimates.
